Active membership to SMCLPA is open to any person engaged in a career in the legal field for at least three (3) months. Student and Associate memberships are available if you are just getting started.
A career in the legal field is defined as a legal secretary (including receptionist), legal assistant (including paralegal), court reporter, attorneys and law office administrator. It also includes employees of public offices of the United States government, state, cities, counties, or municipalities.
An application for membership must be using our online form at Legal Professionals (LPI) Incorporated along with the appropriate dues. By joining SMCLPA you automatically become a member of LPI giving you access to LPI educational programs, networking opportunities, professional development resources, and events across the entire LPI network.
Once you are a member of SMCLPA and LPI, new members will be installed at the next in-person SMCLPA event or general membership meeting.
Attendance at the general membership meetings is not mandatory, but is encouraged. Most meetings are educational and provide MCLE credit.
When you become a member of SMCLPA, you will receive a password to access our “Members’ Only” page.
Accompanying membership in Legal Professionals Incorporated (LPI), a California non-profit mutual benefit association, includes a subscription to THE LEGAL PROFESSIONAL magazine, reduced annual dues for membership in Legal Specialization Sections and discounted prices on purchase of LEGAL PROFESSIONAL’S HANDBOOK and LAW OFFICE PROCEDURES MANUAL.
If you have questions, please contact George Siambis at membership@smclpa.org.
Membership renewal due May 1, 2026, and delinquent May 31, 2026.
